Sing Your Praise to the Lord...

Edward & I have always loved to sing.  I grew up in a very musical home.  My Zoellner grandparents both played the piano and love music.  My Opa was even a drama teacher during his career which says a lot too.
My parents both love to sing (my mom has been in a choir or two and helps with the singing at church) and we were always glad we didn't live in an apartment since music was never played quietly.  My father plays the clarinet as well and we always had a great time with lively music growing up.
On Sunday mornings my father having risen early to make final preparations for the worship service would wake us up with some music playing loudly enough for us to hear it but a good selection that brought joy to our hearts.  Quite often a Michael Card cd. :-)   Edward and I have passed on our love for music and all of our boys love to sing and we very often have music on and quite a variety too.   My 4 year old was even singing  quite happily over and over again in the grocery store: 'I love to singa, about moon'a and the tune'a and the spring'a...I love to sing'a about the sky so blue and tea for two, I love to, I love to sing (an old Disney sketch)."  When we were first married Edward and I were a part of a large choir that was going to sing at the Ottawa Billy Graham Crusade in 1998. Unfortunately we moved away to B.C. 3 weeks before the concert and had to keep most of our enthusiastic singing for home for a while.   This fall we were excited to find out that a choir in our own congregation was starting and we jumped at it and both joined since the men and the ladies practice on rotating weeks.  The boys also joined in the fun by getting signed up for the Children's Choir & Musical at the Parkdale Baptist church organised by a homeschooling friend of mine.  So we'll all be singing our hearts out all week.  Also, 6 out of the 8 members of our Bible Study group are members of the choir too so we get lots of singing on Thursday nights too.  Sing your praise to the Lord, come on everybody, stand up and sing one more Praise to the Lord, I could never tell you how much good it's gonna do ya...(not sure about all the rest of it...). I love to, I love to sing!!!

*The boys are also taking piano lessons and are 'required' to take them till they are 16.  They may choose other intruments but only once they've been playing the piano for at least 8 years. It's one of those skills that can be used to bless others and serve others too.

  1. Music is such a blessing! Exposing your kids to it is great. It's wonderful to see my boys choose to be in choir in college -- early exposure does pay off.
