Fall Fair 2009

If you've read Charlotte's Web you'll remember the description of the fall fair. Going to the Richmond Fair this weekend reminded me of that book. No, no one was in their Sunday best eventhough it would have been fun to see and since I LOVE hats I would have been interested in seeing what all the other ladies had worn. Anyway, we got there around 10am and were not ready to leave until 7pm and we didn't even see everything! We got to see timed barrel horse racing (men & women), trampoline acrobatics, a snake show, cattle getting power washed for showing, lots of crafts & produce with various winning ribbons. We got to eat a full home-cooked meal in the community hall (put on by the local church) and went on a bunch of rides. We ended the day by watching a strongman's demonstration where Edward went up and tried to rip in two the Ottawa Yellow Pages. I was almost relieved that he wasn't able to...I know he doesn't spend his days at work practicing and actually has to use his brains all days and not just brawn (which he has already a lot of). I also think he's much more handsome than all those muscles that would take hours to train and keep those men maybe away from family, serving others and worshipping God and not man. It was a lot of fun to watch though as you can see from the photos. It was a pricey outing but we sure had a great day and look forward to maybe going again next year. The weather was perfect! Three of the boys were asleep even before we were halfway home!
