The Rosetta Stone

I've just finished reading a book about the "riddle" of the Rosetta Stone and how the three parts were finally deciphered (especially the Egyptian hieroglyphs at the top) by a brilliant French linguist Jean-François Champollion in 1822 who had used the work of his predecessors and most of his own discoveries and determination to uncover the mystery. The bottom part is Greek so that they figured out first but the top 2 parts took quite a bit of work. Very cool and exciting story! I'm going to read parts over to make sure I can remember it all. I love History! I'm also starting to work through a historical fiction novel about Antony and Cleopatra as well as finish reading Marc Steyn's book on America and Michael Card's Joy in the Journey devotional.
Another cool thing, I just saw 4 blue jays (all at once) today in my backyard. Two were in the trees and two were fighting for a turn on the birdfeeder I got for Christmas last year. The chicadees have stopped by a few times. The cardinals should be coming as the weather gets colder.
