I HAD to share

We all make these discoveries of places that we just cannot help but be excited about and we just have to tell someone. Well, you get to be that someone. Growing up in a missionary family we got most of our clothes from second hand stores. It was fun for a while to go hunt down those really neat finds. As I got older I wanted to fit in an wear brand name items and didn't enjoy the thrift store experience anymore. Now that we have a Value Village that isn't far I find myself back in there again. I know most of the brand names and the prices in the stores. I am finding some one of a kind pieces that I know are probably not found in the stores anymore but are still great. Another great thing is finding that really neat pair of earrings...some people are in to shoes or books or other things...I love earrings. I have mentioned it before.
My latest discovery is a really great website that has posters and teaching material all in French (not translated in English all over the books which defeats the purpose). The material is almost exclusively Canadian and not American (they should really, really stick to Spanish). I am so excited about my new teaching material and I have never been excited about verb charts or posters. My brain is just bursting with ideas...I will be 36 years old this summer...and I am in love...I have finally found my vocation and calling. It was there all along but between thrift stores, discovering unique earrings and planning French teaching lessons...I'm content. I have never been this busy and yet so feeling that I have a purpose and maybe even a calling.Careful though...if I take you thrift store shopping...you might come home with way too many things. Just kidding.:-)

  1. For your reading pleasure: my sister-in-law, who is very fashion forward, has a blog on thrifting. It's her passion in life and she does it well. Feel free to stop by her blog....

  2. One thing about Value Village, the prices have gotten quite high. I can often find things cheaper brand new. Although I do love finding things that are really unique. I still prefer Goodwill or Salvation Army though since their prices are better.

    1. I totally agree with you Jo. The closest Goodwill or Sally Ann are over 30min from me and the Value Village is quite close. I found the prices have gone up but the clothing and other items I have found are also nicer. I found are really silk/pashmina scarf for $10. I know that brand new it would be way more. For kids it's not always worth it but when it's $6 for a pair of size 12 boys pants...I cannot find that anywhere even during the best sales. I love finding 'one of a kind' items too. :-)
