To be blessed by the words of a friend sent as a gift from God but words that were loving and grace-filled but maybe not what I wanted to hear unless my heart was open to receive. That is a true friend. I thank God for those friends who are honest and loving and show their kindness and godliness by their openess and truthfulness. In today's world so often people are busy with their own lives and don't want to 'get involved' in others lives or don't take the time for those close to them or if they have concerns will not lovingly speak about it to those concerned but will simply 'shut off' and quietly let things just go on. To approach someone can be very humbling and we will make ourselves vulnerable but did Jesus worry about that when speaking to others? He told his disciples to speak in love but to be bold and courageous. To speak to someone in love yet truth takes courage but also takes a person who has been changed by God's grace and knows that they have been forgiven. They can find joy in their every day in Christ not matter what is going on around them. I thank God for faithful friends who are a blessing in my life and who have been sent as gifts along the journey of life. Like bright flowers standing tall in a dark night they bring beauty and joy and light up the darkness by their presence.
