Moments to cherish...Our final walk this fall!

Last week we went on our final fall walk together. It was quite nice overall. We had a few firsts. It was Mathias first time feeding the birds when he decided that with his mitten on he didn't mind having birds land on hand. Jürgen had birds on his head since we thought we'd try bird seed on his hood. We found out that peanuts are actually chickadees favourite snack as opposed to sun flowers seeds. We saw our usual chickadees, at least 4 or 5 nuthatches, 3 big woodpeckers, 2 blujays and lots of red squirrels. Thomas wasn't too sure about feeding the chickadees & nuthatches and Johan is still too small for the birds to land comfortably on his hand or swoop down so long.
We had 100m to go to finish our walk to only be told by a construction worker that they were fixing the bridge and that we'd have to turn around and walk back 600m. Well, boy did I have a sad bunch the walk back. Thankfully when we made it back to the van and they had a bunch of snacks & something to drink and once we were home they all announced that they were glad we had gone. Phew! :-)

  1. I still am amazed that your boys can get the birds to eat out of their hands! It must be such an incredible experience!
