Outing with their Mama!
I took my two oldest out to their first movie (other than IMAX ones)theatre. We went to see Pixar's UP. I got them popcorn & drinks to give them the full experience & the movie was in 3D. We had a fun time together!
They had a good time overall but Pixar's movies are getting too heavy and more adult themes (death of a loved one, miscarriage, bad parent/children relationships, death of bad guy (no big deal), vengeance & hate)... I just loved Cars from start to finish...this one I kept falling asleep because the action was kind of slow at times and the themes weren't just light and funny but more intense. I was really tired and I was hoping for a good laugh and lots of smiles. The boys didn't laugh at all and at times were very serious or confused as to what was really going on. We had a great time but I wouldn't recommend the movie to children under 9 or 10. Not just fun animation. I guess I should have known it wasn't rated G or F. We didn't have as much fun as when sitting and watching CARS together.
we went the other day to see it and my kids loved it!... they are older than yours, maybe that helped.... but yes, the whole "married life" was too long.. I too was expecting more laughs.... but it was a clean movie, the kid was not realy missbehaved there were not bad language (that I remember), no too questionable topics... I thought it was quite good and cute, specially the little boy!.... Norma
I somehow wish there didn't always have to be the mean bad guy and that half of a story is about getting him or getting away from him. And where does the bad guy end up...falling to his death and the father never shows up at the end as promised. Way too serious a story for fun animation and for children to enjoy. Not one I'd see again from Pixar...just way too many heavy themes for me...It would have been perfect if I were looking for a drama but I didn't think Pixar was doing that...Maybe they're changing the writing style. The boys did have a good time but like when they saw Wall-E...I don't think they'll be interested in watching it again. I haven't had a good laugh watching a movie in quite a long time! Okay...since watching CARS!
Hi Sara I took my girls too awhile back ago. We had a great time too! My girls (8&6) liked the movie. I agree there were some "mature" themes throughout the movie but there were some funny times too. (I had known ahead of time as I read up about the movie before seeing it to make sure there were no surprises.) My girls laughed and cried along with me. But they're girls so maybe their emotions are different than your boys. It was a bit suspenseful at times for Makenna who sat at the edge of her seat and asked "will we fall off???" (when the house was flying). cute :)
Jamie and I agree that Cars is a great movie. It's a staple at our house and Levi loves it!
So you said on Facebook that you fell asleep. What about the boys? Did they enjoy it? If nothing else I'm guessing they loved going with Mama!
