Track & Field Day

The boys just had their first RVHEA Homeschoolers Track & Field Day. Turns out a few non-homeschooling families joined us too (who had been training for the last few weeks and the homeschoolers were told training wasn't required) but the boys made some new friends and had a great time. Since they had never run in a race before they didn't know all the tricks, especially Jürgen who gave it all he had for the 200m and was exhausted at the end and had had to wait until 4pm to do his race when he was already exhausted and beginning to overheat. He did very well with the running lon jump and standing broad jump (placed 3rd & 5th) for the boys ages 7-8 group. Mathias worked his hardest but since he was with 4-6 year old boys, the 6 year olds have at least 1 or 2 years of experience and took all the ribbons home (they did all get a participation ribbon). The whole family went home tired, filthy but happy! We'll prepare the boys better for next year and will look forward to our 2nd year next June (and the boys will be that much older)! Actually Thomas will be old enough to participate next year!☺
