Sparrow

God sees the little sparrow fall,

It meets His tender view;

If God so loves the little birds,

I know He loves me, too.
Refrain
He loves me, too, He loves me, too,I know He loves me, too;

Because He loves the little things,I know He loves me, too.
He paints the lily of the field,Perfumes each lily bell;

If He so loves the little flow’rs,I know He loves me well.
Refrain
God made the little birds and flow’rs,

And all things large and small;He’ll not forget his little ones,

I know He loves them all.

I learned these two songs as a child growing up...

His eye is on the sparrow... and I know He cares for me.

I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free,

His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me...

This afternoon, I found a dead sparrow (reminded of those two songs) in our yard. The boys and E. were not home but I left it for them to bury it. E. bought me a beautiful bird feeder for Christmas so that I could enjoy the birds ever day from our kitchen window. We've had so many birds, it's been great learning and teaching the names to the boys.
Since we've been teaching the boys to care for God's creation and that so far the only animals they can kill are mosquitoes (to protect themselves from disease/ pain), when a spider, fly or wasp ends up in our house it gets ushered back out. The spiders are usually called Charlotte. God made even the smallest creatures for His Glory!

So, I have to confess, I did cry when I found the fallen sparrow...but was thankful I wasn't the only one who saw it.
